Features Include: Small File Size. Mimic uses advanced compression techniques to minimize the size of movie files without sacrificing quality. Multiple Output Formats. In addition to producing movies in Macromedia FlashR and other common formats, you can use Mimic to publish movies to Microsoft's new Windows Presentation Foundation Everywhere (WPF/E) format. WPF/E, which is developed specifically for Windows Vista applications, is a flexible alternative to Flash that is based on XML and lets you display your results on other operating systems as well as on the web. Variable Support. MadCap Mimic supports single-sourcing for multiple audiences through the use of Variables. The MadCap Mimic Variable support even integrates with MadCap Flare and MadCap Capture. When MadCap Mimic created movies are added to a Flare project, then changing a Variable value in Flare will also automatically change the same variable content in your MadCap Mimic movies. The ultimate in single-sourcing. Adjustable Recording Region. Mimic lets you choose between multiple window options when recording a movie. For example, you can choose to record the full screen, a specific application, or even a particular region on your screen. Snap-to-size Recording. No need to manually resize your recording window or the application window to match. In Mimic, you can automatically “snap” the recording window to an active application’s size, or you can move an active application within the recording window. Visual Timeline. Use Mimic’s visual timeline to synchronize actions and objects in a movie frame. Manipulate actions to occur for an exact period of time and in a specific sequence. Audio Support. Mimic lets you easily incorporate background audio or customized narration into your movie. Project-Oriented, Single-Sourcing Workflow. In Mimic, you create projects, each of which can contain multiple movies. It’s just one more way to single-source your information. You can reuse the same project to: (1) produce simple movies to be used independently, or (2) connect individual movies together to form an extensive, seamless video tutorial. Seamless Integration with MadCap Flare. Although Mimic is a great tool for many purposes, including sales and marketing, technical support, and eLearning, it was especially designed for use with MadCap Flare to create professional Help systems. It’s very easy to launch Mimic from within Flare and to quickly incorporate your finished movie into a Flare project. Flexible Interface. Mimic’s user interface is unique in that it is comprised of individual panes that you can move around as you like and “dock” to different areas of your workspace.
