Secure Email Attachments and Reap the Benefits

Finding an effective solution for encrypting sensitive email attachments can cause headaches for many security administrators. The biggest challenge is finding a security solution that will enforce encryption, yet be easy for end users to adopt. SecureZIP and PKZIP respond to that challenge through integration with Microsoft Outlook, providing transparent encryption of attachments sent via email to internal or external recipients. Integration with MS Outlook enhances productivity by allowing users to encrypt files directly from their familiar email client interface, requiring little or no additional interaction. Users simply create a new email message, attach files, and click "Send". PKZIP and SecureZIP automatically zip and encrypt the files as they are sent, stopping only to prompt the sender to enter a password if required. Additionally, the MS Outlook integration is an end-to-end security solution, which means attachments remain persistently secure while in transit to the recipient as well as at rest in the sender and recipient mailboxes.

Usability is not the only issue that concerns organizations when they are evaluating encryption solutions. Encryption tends to increase the size of files, so while other encryption solutions may secure your data, it may be at the expense of your email bandwidth and storage capacity. PKZIP and SecureZIP solve this problem by first compressing files by as much as 90% before encrypting them. Our MS Outlook integration combines the benefit of zipping with encryption to effectively reduce the bandwidth required to send files. Smaller files means message transmission time is accelerated and reduces the likelihood of files being blocked by an email gateway with strict file size limits.

The Sender's email message appears as a typical Outlook email.
