ToolProof Overview

Clipped Strings

ToolProof can detect clipped strings, the most common error and sometimes, the most difficult to detect, particularly when your testers are not working in their native language.

ToolProof can detect clipped strings in static text boxes, push buttons, checkboxes, radio buttons, combo boxes and listboxes.

In the screenshot above, you can see ToolProof detecting a truncated string in a static text box, a string overrun in a group box, a clipped radio button and checkbox, and finally, a truncated button.

Hitletter Problems

ToolProof implements full hitletter checking. This includes detection of duplicate hitletters within dialogs and menus; missing hitletters from static text boxes before active controls (edit boxes, listboxes, combo-boxes) in the dialog's tab order; interface hitletters which are not contained within ToolProofs definable list of valid hitletters.

In the screenshot above, ToolProof detects: duplicate hitletters on two static text boxes; clashing hitletters on the checkbox and the dialog's pushbutton; a checkbox with a missing hitletter.

Overlapping Controls

Finally, ToolProof can detect when controls in your application's user interface overlap each other.

In the screenshot, ToolProof is highlighting an easily detected overlapping groupbox and edit box. It also shows two overlapping static text controls and an overlapping text box and push button.

Other Features

In addition to the above, ToolProof includes:

  • Complete configurability, through a comprehensive series of project setup dialogs.
  • Support for multiple-tester environments including project and bug list merging and export.
  • Support for all Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT codepage, including DBCS from within the one executable file.
  • Complete online help and a complete manual and free lifetime support.
