Thank you for downloading the Service Pack for Alchemy Catalyst 8.0. This will update your version of Catalyst to 8.03 Service Pack 3.

This SP3 includes the changes in previously released SP2 and SP1.

As it is a service pack release it can be applied to any valid installation of Catalyst 8.0.

SP3 Major Enhancements

File Support - WPF

Visual rendering of WPF BAML resources improved.
Increased number of BAML resources (forms) now displayed in visual mode.

File Support - HTML

Improved leveraging of HTML files using XPATH, tag matching and indexing.
Spellchecking now respects the nbsp tag, treating it as a space.

Other General Support

Improved functionality for saving ttks - occasionally saving multiple ttks concurrently could cause ttk corruption, this has now been addressed.
Deleting a file from a ttk sometimes causing instability in Catalyst - issue resolved.

SP3 Minor Enhancements

WPF and .Net File Support

AssemblyVersion now maintained on extraction when it differs from FileVersion.
Improved support for font leverage in .Net forms added
Signed off status not leveraging for WPF strings with id ".Text" - resolved.

Keyword Support
Issue of QuickSearch results sometimes displaying keywords incorrectly addressed.
Glossary hits on strings with keywords sometimes causing instability - addressed.

Language Support

Additional languages added to source and target language lists.

Other General Support

Exported TBX files now contain <text> element before <body> element.
Catalyst 8.03 now specifically reports that it cannot open a Catalyst 9 ttk.

SP2 Major Enhancements

File Support - .NET, WPF and Silverlight

.NET 4.0 Framework support added for Binary and ResX files
Font displayed in forms is now as derived from base forms
WPF - Visual View for satellite assemblies now loaded from neutral language folder resources
.NET support extended to provide parsing of Silverlight files
Some Silverlight files could not be extracted correctly through ezScript, this is now resolved

File Support - HTML

HTML - applying duplicates now maintains tags
The closing of img tags now correctly preserved for strict HTML files
Extraction of XHTML files was resulting in badly formed output in some cases -- resolved

File Support - RC

Additional support for the Multiline style in RC files was causing extraction issues -- resolved
For certain languages Catalyst was missing sublanguage values on extraction -- resolved
New separator syntax now supported by the RC parser

Analysis Expert

Analysis report modification - now displaying the pre-translated stats of a TTK

Duplicates Filter

Duplicate filter should now show duplicates ignoring keywords
Propagation of duplicates in filter mode should maintain keywords

Other General Support

Translator Lite - New TTK size limit 25 MB - Increased from 10 MB
Text files which used a parsing rule and were edited in Visual View causing file corruption on extraction. Users can now only edit parsed text files in string view.

SP2 Minor Enhancements

.NET File Support

.NET binary extraction - extra/unneeded font and coordinate information appearing in extracted .Net files -- resolved
.NET - the messages seen during Insertion of .NET files in the results window now also written to the ezScript log file
Improved Resx Parsing support and Visual View rendering
WPF - Height "Auto" property changed to "0" after leverage if the "Exclude coordinates" option not set in Leverage Expert -- resolved

Leveraging from Trados TM cut segments at special characters -- resolved
Improved Keyword Leveraging and PowerTranslate functionality
For non 1252 Code page languages to fuzzy Matching rates were wrongly reported -- resolved

File Support - XLIFF

Tags in Source - No Target in File - Tags were not copied into Target on insertion -- resolved
Leverage algorithm improved for maintaining Signed Off status on IDs and File names
Signed Off status now applied to segment when trans-unit approved="yes" found in file

File Support - HTML

Catalyst will preserve empty CDATA sections in files
HTML Pre tags now treated as script elements

Machine Translation

If more than 1 sentence in segment only 1st sentence sent for out for Machine Translation -- resolved
Additional languages now supported in the language list

Keyword Support

Certain Regular Expressions causing Catalyst to hang -- resolved
Keywords not applied on Insertion when using Insert Files and Folders -- resolved

Spell Checking Support

Removed Cultures from the MS spell dictionaries list
Spelling issues incorrectly reported on valid translations addressed
Changing from MS Dictionaries to No Dictionary was taking a long time to save settings to registry -- addressed

Translator Toolbar

Accelerator added for "Flag segment" Ctrl+Shift+F
Properties tab becomes closed when changing strings while there is an active glossary -- resolved

Catalyst UI Issues

Improved support for machine registered Custom Controls when loading TTKs and Visual rendering of the dialogs
ezParse parsing rules were sometimes going out of sync - additional checks added to avoid this
Clicking on some icons was causing a crash on Vista/XP -- resolved
Issue re not being able to add translation after double clicking find results resolved
Segment selection now maintained post a Find and the first string no longer gets focus

Other General Support

English (Zimbabwe) and Romanian (Romania) added to source/target languages
ezScript Help updated to document new error codes 21-25
Duplicates filter - when a segment is signed off, its translation can now be duplicated and the translator toolbar is updated to reflect the new string
Default extraction destination folder for CHM changed to Last Used folder
DDF Files - There is now a config switch to allow the user to turn on or off the HTML tagging
Update Expert issue on Server 2003 resolved
Glossary inconsistency check's erroneous reports if multiple glossary hits present -- resolved
Dialogs - online validation does not work if "Ignore untranslated segments" setting is on -- resolved
Export Project - Remove Duplicates option now correctly removing the duplicate strings

SP1 Major Enhancements

.NET Visual View enhancements
Catalyst's visual view has been enhanced in order to display edited tooltips, context menus and pull-down menus in visual mode in real time.

WPF Enhancements
Resx string tables in WPF files are now supported in Catalyst 8.01
WPF hotkeys (natively represented by an underscore) are now interpreted and displayed as standard hotkeys.
Scrollbars for viewing large WPF forms are correctly implemented.

HTML Enhancement
HTML inline tags are now defined in an external file, "Inline Tags.txt" in the Catalyst Public Folder:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Alchemy Software\Catalyst 8.0
Vista: C:\Users\Public\Alchemy Software\Catalyst 8.0
(where the OS is installed on the C drive).
This file is configurable by the user.

Statistics and word counts
The "Duplicates" word count has been changed to count only those duplicates that are untranslated. The title of this column in the statistics window is thus "Untranslated Duplicates".
A new category has been included in word counts - "Untranslated Uniques".
Duplicates and Unique word counts are now calculated on a cumulative basis.

The Leverage Expert
Alchemy Publisher PPF projects containing Microsoft Word or Adobe FrameMaker documents are now fully understood by Catalyst. This means they can be successfully used as a TM source during leverage ensuring better consistency across software and documentation content.

Right to Left support Enhancements
"Flip Dialogs" now flips all dialog items correctly.
When the user changes keyboard settings for language input in Catalyst, this changed setting is now maintained.

Keyword Enhancements
A new option to "Apply Keywords on Insertion" of files has been added, meaning that the application of keywords can be automated.
Adding "wholewordsfalse:" at the beginning of a keyword entry in a keywords file means that the keyword will be applied to a match within a word, i.e. a whole word match does not have to be found.
Comments can now be added to the keywords file by adding a // at the start of the string.

Full TXML Support
This release of Alchemy Catalyst extends the support for TXML files. In addition to being an export format, TXML files are now natively understood,providing the ability to insert, edit and extract localised TXML documents. All Catalyst features such as Validation, Power Translate, Pseudo Translate apply to the new format and TXML files can also be used as a TM source.

PowerTranslate
Optimisation for PowerTranslate features has been added to enhance speed and to ensure the safe operation of concurrent tasks such as leverage and auto-translate.

Comments in ResX String Tables
The content of comment tags in ResX String Tables is now displayed in Catalyst memos.

Catalyst 8 API
In addition to a significant number of COM API extensions in SP1, Catalyst now offers a new event driven API allowing core operations such as Validation and Pseudo Translate to be extended by writing simple .NET plugins.

SP1 Minor Enhancements

Leverage Expert
The Leverage Expert now leverages coordinates and string statuses for .Net files.
Leveraging has been enhanced to leverage appropriate coordinates and statuses for items with duplicate ids on a dialog.
Leverage of an object's frozen status has been changed to take priority over leverage of its individual items.

The Analysis Expert
The Analysis Expert has been updated to account for keywords and exclude them from the Translatable Total figure.
In some cases, Analysis Expert results were not consistent with statistics, this has been addressed.

HTML extraction
Entity references which were present in a HTML file on insert were not being converted back to the entity refs on extraction, the actual character was being extracted instead. Change implemented to check whether the entity is in the source, and if so the character is now output in entity ref form.

Details files
Occasionally, additional line breaks in the details file were being added to strings after importing a details file.
Support for non-unicode details files has been implemented so that details files from previous Catalyst versions can now be imported successively without any problems.

String selection
There was an issue where changing the status of multi-selected strings did not always work if one of the strings was marked For Review - this has now been addressed.

Support for the following languages have been added to the source and target language lists in Catalyst where it is supported by the Operating System being used.
